Le cancer est la deuxième cause la plus fréquente de mortalité dans les sociétés occidentales. À l’IRCM, la recherche sur le cancer est aujourd’hui orientée sur la compréhension des composantes cellulaires et des voies de signalisation qui contrôlent la prolifération cellulaire, la dissémination métastatique, la migration cellulaire, l’angiogenèse et la mort cellulaire.
Cet investissement permettra à l’IRCM d’accroître considérablement ses activités dans le domaine de la recherche sur le cancer afin d’améliorer ses compétences dans les domaines de la communication intercellulaire et de la signalisation et sur le fondement génétique de la prédisposition au cancer.

Cancer is the second most common cause of death in Western societies. At the IRCM, cancer research now focuses on understanding cellular components and signal pathways in the control of cell proliferation, metastatic spreading, cell migration, angiogenesis, and cell death.
This investment will allow the IRCM to considerably increase its activities in the field of cancer research and to improve its expertise in the areas of cell-cell communication, cell signalling, and the genetic basis for cancer predisposition.
