1) Postdoctoral Position

Summary of responsibilities

A postdoctoral position is available in the Laboratory of Human Retrovirology at the IRCM to study Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-host interactions governing HIV replication, transmission and persistence. Research projects are particularly focused on understanding the role of HIV accessory proteins (Vpr, Vpu and Nef) in evading intrinsic/ innate immunity using cell-based and humanized mouse models (NSG and/or BLT). These research projects are funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). For more information on the research program of the Laboratory, please refer to the Research Unit’s website.

Job requirements

Applicant should have a PhD in virology or immunology, obtained in 2013 or after. A relevant experience in immunology using mouse models and/or in HIV research would be most appropriate. A strong background in molecular and cellular biology would also be an asset.

2) Graduate Student Position

Summary of responsibilities
The laboratory technical assistant will support laboratory personnel in technical tasks, reagent preparation and take part in the maintenance of the laboratory. Other related duties can be added.
Type of contract: 12 months renewable, full time (35 hours per week)
Branch of industry: Biomedical and clinical research 
Start date: As soon as possible
Job requirements
  • AEC or DEC in biotechnology (or related fields), last year student or recent graduate. 
  • Functional bilingualism (English/French).
  • Experience during rotation in a research environment will represent an asset.
  • Required aptitudes and competencies:
    • Flexibility, autonomy, rigor and organizational skills.
    • Diplomacy, dynamism and professionalism.
    • Ability to communicate, establish interpersonal relationships and to interact with colleagues.
