Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret, MD, PhD
Dr. Rabasa-Lhoret completed his doctoral degree (MD) with a specialization in endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition in France (Paris and Montpellier) in 1995. From 1995 to 2000, in Montpellier, Paris and Montreal, he completed his PhD in food sciences, further specialization in nutrition and diabetes. In 2001-2002, Dr. Rabasa-Lhoret completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Lyon (INSERM 449 and the Centre de recherche en nutrition de Lyon). In 2002, Dr. Rabasa-Lhoret was recruited as a physician in the CHUM department of endocrinology (Hôtel-Dieu), as well as assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition at the Université de Montréal. In 2004, he becamse Director of the research platform on obesity, metabolism and diabetes (PROMD), initially located in the Department of Nutrition at the Université de Montréal. In January 2009, the research platform moved to the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal. The PROMD research platform is part of a research unit possessing all the necessary equipment for precise physiological testing, as well as interventions in the fields of nutrition and physical activity. In 2008, Dr. Rabasa-Lhoret received the endowed J.A. DeSève Chair of Excellence. He is also the recipient of the 2010 Merck Young Investigator Award from the Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (CSEM). He is the author of over 110 manuscripts and book chapters. He is involved in numerous associations, including the Société Francophone du Diabète, and is editor of several magazines, such as Diabetes & Metabolism and Canadian Journal of Diabetes.
