Pierre Larochelle, MD, PhD, FRCPC, FAHA, FACP

Degrees and relevant experience
Dr. Larochelle graduated in medicine from Laval University in Quebec City in 1968, and completed his straight internship at the Hôpital Enfant Jésus de Québec and his residency in internal medicine at the Montreal General Hospital. He then pursued graduate studies as a clinical research fellow in clinical pharmacology at the Montreal General Hospital and in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the Department of Medicine at McGill University. He completed another residency in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology at the Montreal General Hospital, during which he obtained his PhD in pharmacology.

An internist at the CHUM specializing in clinical and therapeutic pharmacology, Dr. Larochelle is recognized as an international leader in the field of hypertension. Throughout his distinguished career, he has had his contributions recognized, both in Canada and internationally, with many awards and honours. He is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Physicians, and has served as president of the Société québécoise d’hypertension artérielle and the Canadian Hypertension Society. He also sits on peer reviews committees for several scientific journals, and has published more than 400 articles, book chapters and abstracts in the course of his career.
