The analytical and general computing services of the Bioinformatics Core Facility are available to all researchers at the IRCM and will be later open to external academic and medical institutions, as well as to private and corporate researchers.

Projects at the bioinformatics core facility typically start with an initial meeting to outline the scientific and technical objectives. Following this initial consultation the core facility analysts will prepare a detailed analysis plan that includes the required resources, estimates for cost and time as well as delivery milestones. This plan is then thoroughly discussed and once a consensus has been reached, the execution of the project begins.

During a project, investigators will be provided with the following:

  • An assigned analyst who will be responsible for conducting and supervising the analysis until its conclusion.
  • Access to a secure, password-protected collaboration portal through which information and data can be exchanged between the investigator and core facility staff.
  • Periodic updates on the status of the project, including any changes in time or cost estimates.
  • Thorough scientific review to insure that the highest standards of quality are met.
