Pavel Hamet (IRCM-1972) received two important awards in June 2008. On June 3, he was elected Officer of the Ordre national du Québec, and on June 21, he received the International Okamoto Award.
The Ordre national du Québec is the most prestigious distinction awarded by the State of Québec. The International Okamoto Award, on the other hand, is a prize from Japan awarded to researchers who made outstanding contributions to cardiovascular research on diseases such as hypertension, atherosclerosis and diabetes.
Pavel Hamet is a world-renowned scientist, particularly in the fields of hypertension and diabetes. He is professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal and physician at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM).
