Scientists in this research unit study the genes that play an important role in the development and functioning of the heart. Their studies are aimed at better understanding the molecular basis for congenital cardiac anomalies and cardiac pathologies, such as ventricular hypertrophy and the negative effects of certain chemotherapy treatments and viral infections on the heart.
