The research activities of the Nutrition, Metabolism and Atherosclerosis Clinic are devoted to the characterization and treatment of hyperlipedemias (the increase of cholesterol and fat in the blood). These conditions increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disorders and atherosclerosis. In order to comprehend the cause and optimize treatment, researchers on this team focus on the nutritional, genetic, biochemical, pharmacological and molecular aspects of these diseases. Particular emphasis placed on the study of genes involved in atherosclerosis and of new factors that promote or prevent this disease.
