A new Canada Research Chair

A new Canada Research Chair

Dr. Marie Kmita, director of the Genetics and Development research unit at the IRCM, was recently named a Canada Research Chair in Molecular Embryology and Genetics. This is a Level 2 Chair, the category reserved for researchers who are starting their careers and are judged by their peers to be potential leaders in their respective domains.

This Chair will study the genetic mechanisms that control the development of the embryo and the architecture of the body, contributing to research on human genetic diseases, specifically conditions affecting the skeleton.

Dr. Kmita’s work has appeared in a number of high-profile journals, including Nature, Science and Cell.
