Researcher: Dr Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret
The objectives of this project are to assess the feasibility of the nutritional intervention by measuring food intake, eating behaviors and the factors facilitating or limiting adherence to the intervention.
To be eligible for this project, you must:
- Be between 40 and 75 years old
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 to 45 kg/m2
- Be taking insulin
- Have access to the Internet and a telephone to allow follow-ups
The study consists of 17 virtual visits spread over 25 weeks and is divided into 3 intervention phases:
- Introduction visits: Includes teachings to start the study.
- 2 visits (duration of visit 1 ≈ 1.5 hours; duration of visit 2 ≈ 2 hours)
- Phase 1: Phase of significant calorie restriction (800 kcal/day)
- 9 visits (duration of a visit ≈ 0.5 to 2 hours)
- Phase 2: Moderate calorie restriction phase (reduction of 500 kcal/day from your basal metabolism)
- 2 visits (duration of a visit ≈ 0.5 to 2 hours)
- Phase 3: Stable weight phase
- 4 visits (duration of a visit ≈ 0.5 to 2 hours)
Since participation in the study will be done entirely remotely, some measurements will need to be done by the participant (weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood ketones). Material necessary for these measurements will be provided to you at the start of the study and may be kept following your participation.
During your participation, you will be closely followed by a qualified team composed of a nutritionist and an endocrinologist.
