Research Assistant

Founded in 1967, the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is a non-profit organization that conducts fundamental and clinical biomedical research in addition to training high-level scientific succession in an innovative technological environment. Bringing together approximately 425 people, the Institute brings together more than 35 laboratories working in the field of cancer, infectious diseases, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, systems biology, and chemistry. medicinal. The IRCM also runs research clinics specializing in immunology, hypertension, nutrition, and diabetes, as well as a research center on rare and genetic diseases in adults.

The RNA biology research unit, led by Dr Eric Lécuyer, is looking to recruit a highly motivated research assistant to develop expertise in RNA biology and therapeutics. Founded in 2000, the RNA Biology research unit studies the biological functions of subcellular RNA localization and how these processes are altered in disease settings. The laboratory is affiliated with two of Canada's leading research universities: Université de Montréal (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine) and McGill University (Division of Experimental Medicine), offering a diverse and multidisciplinary training environment.

Our laboratory combines diversified methods in cellular and molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics, to i) study the mechanisms of intracellular transport of RNAs, ii) understand dysfunctions in diseases contexts, and iii) capitalize the knowledge to develop new therapeutic approaches. Our multidisciplinary team participates in various collaborative efforts with partners from academia and the private sector, supporting prospects to create start-up companies.

The ideal candidate should have excellent knowledge in microbiology and/or mycology and molecular biology. Involvement in the projects and the type of techniques used will depend on the objectives of the team which evolves in a very dynamic and competitive environment. This person will therefore have to communicate effectively with the laboratory staff, scientific collaborators, stakeholders, and partners. Main role is to ensure that the work is always carried out according to the achievement of the team's objectives.
