If the growing COVID-19 pandemic brings uncertainty to the entire world population, the concern it creates for those with pre-existing health conditions is even greater. This is particularly the case for people living with type 1 diabetes.
Are people with type 1 diabetes more at risk from COVID-19? Should we expect insulin shortages in pharmacies? What to do if you have planned medical visits or blood tests? Or what medications should be avoided if you have COVID-19?
To help answer these questions, the IRCM Diabetes Clinic directed by Dr. Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret, and partners, have put together a series of resources to reassure patients. Dr. Rabasa-Lhoret was live on Facebook on March 25th to answer 7 of the most asked questions on the subject, and address concerns voiced by the public.
