Dear members of the IRCM community, I'm writing to you at the very start of the new year, first of all to offer each and every one of you my very best wishes for 2024, including good health for you and your loved ones. May this year bring you happiness and projects!
Speaking of projects, I'd like to share with you my hopes and dreams for our Institute, both for this coming year and for the medium term. At the Institute, 2023 will have been a fruitful year on many levels, both in terms of scientific advances and the achievements of our vibrant new generation, not to mention the consolidation of our human capital and the successes of our foundation. To get an idea of all we've accomplished together, I invite you to take a look at the highlights compiled by the Communications team.
Building on our achievements and strengths, but with a renewed vision and values, resolutely focused on the future, our ambition is to take the IRCM's excellence in research and care even further and higher, while cultivating an inclusive, modern and caring work environment for all. On this last issue, we will make no compromises, and we are determined to do our utmost to ensure that everyone finds their place, harmoniously, at IRCM. You will already have noticed that your management is in action, for the betterment of all. In this matter, as in all others, you are invaluable partners.
Over the past few months, we also have been engaged in an extensive process of strategic positioning. A rather dry and intimidating expression, but one that covers an exciting project, full of concrete avenues for action, that will carry us into the future. It is the fruit of the joint efforts of the IRCM's driving forces, which were shaped by workshops, individual and collective exchanges, and followed by a major synthesis and analysis exercise, all with the collaboration of representatives of all the components of our institute: researchers, clinicians, members of management and the Foundation, not to mention the invaluable contribution of employees and various members of the IRCM community.
This new strategic vision will be our guide as we continue to grow, while facing up to the very real challenges that lie ahead, paving the way for concrete actions to be taken in each of our areas of activity. This five-year plan is based, among other things, on the deployment of our ambitious Precision Therapies project, whose potential for population health is infinite, all built around shared values and an integrated, coherent and modern vision. Already 2023 has seen the Sidney-Altman RNA Therapeutics Hub take off. I look forward to sharing the details of this strategic plan with you over the coming months and am convinced that it will take us a long way in a coherent and unifying approach.
You'll see that each and every one of you has a role to play, because you are at the heart of our success, and of the future of our beloved Institute, your professional family and your home base.
