RSC (The Royal Society of Canada): The Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences of Canada has recently announced the election of Dr. Yvan Guindon, Director of the IRCM’s Bioorganic Chemistry research unit, to the position of President-Elect, effective until November 2007, at which time he will become RSC’s next President. Dr. Guindon is member of the RSC since 1990.
Through the years, those researchers from the IRCM were honoured by the SRC and became members of this prestigious organization: Jacques Genest (1965), Pierre Bois (1974), Michel Chrétien (1981), Paul Jolicoeur (1989), Peter W. Schiller (1991), Nabil G. Seidah (1992), Jacques de Champlain (1993), Jean Davignon (1995), Jacques Drouin (2001), Mona Nemer (2001), Ernesto L. Schiffrin (2006).
Founded in 1882 by the Governor General of Canada, RSC is the country’s oldest and most prestigious scholarly organization. Its mission is to promote learning and recognize remarkable contributions in the arts, humanities and sciences, as well as in Canadian public life.
