Summary of responsibilities
The Human Retrovirology Research Unit is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to study Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)-host interactions governing HIV persistence. The focus will be on understanding the role of HIV accessory proteins Vpr, Vpu and Nef in this process. The research program is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to embark on research project(s) that focus on:
- Elucidating the relative contribution of myeloid cells to HIV persistence/reservoir;
- Unravelling the mechanism(s) by which HIV evade the immune system; or
- Testing potential approaches that aim to enhance anti-HIV responses and/or reduce viral reservoirs.
Job requirements
- PhD in Virology or Immunology (0-2 years after graduation)
- Practical knowledge in molecular and cellular biology is an asset
