JOB PURPOSE
Under the authority of the Director of Technical Services, the incumbent is responsible for the proper functioning of all electromechanical equipment and must ensure the smooth execution of activities related to the maintenance, servicing, and repair of such equipment within the IRCM building.
This includes high- and low-pressure steam heating systems, cooling systems, water production and treatment systems, hot and cold domestic water supply, laboratory and osmosis systems, as well as all other equipment and services installed in the IRCM facility.
TASK DESCRIPTION
- Supervise and oversee a team of stationary engineers (6 MMF and 1 assistant MMF coordinator), supporting them in solving daily problems.
- Ensure the reliability of equipment and the safety of installations by rigorously enforcing the maintenance program in the sector.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including users, consultants, and external contractors, to plan service shutdowns, coordinate maintenance and repair work, and respond to service requests.
- Ensure the health and safety of both workers and users.
- Propose and actively participate in initiatives aimed at improving electromechanical installations, while striving to reduce operating costs, energy consumption, and service downtime.
- Monitor and control the quality of maintenance and repair contracts, making recommendations to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Respond to service calls from IRCM users concerning HVAC systems.
- Carry out preventive maintenance of equipment using a planned maintenance system.
- Investigate the causes of issues, take corrective measures, and perform necessary repairs to prevent equipment or system failures.
- Monitor, inspect, and analyze instrument readings as well as faults in thermal plant equipment.
- Diagnose deficiencies in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and identify appropriate solutions.
- Plan staff replacement for operations during vacation, illness, etc. (operations 24/7, 365 days a year).
- Serve as a liaison, within the framework of joint projects or daily activities, between stationary engineers and other internal stakeholders (electricians, plumbers, building maintenance services, security services, etc.) or external stakeholders (engineers, external contractors, consultants, etc.) at IRCM.
- When required: perform mechanical repairs on equipment such as repacking pumps, replacing bearings, bushings, and pulleys, aligning equipment, lubricating bearings, replacing seals, and changing drive belts for specific interventions.
- Operate and maintain the thermal plant (classified 3B), including steam boilers, air conditioning systems, and all other equipment required for heating and cooling the IRCM.
- Ensure compliance with current RBQ laws and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in stationary engine mechanics.
- 5 years of experience in building mechanics.
- Stationary engineer certificate: class 3B or higher (obtained, or in the process of certification).
