Founded in 1967, the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is a public non-profit organization dedicated to fundamental and clinical biomedical research across a wide range of themes, while also training the next generation of top-level scientists in an innovative technological environment.
The IRCM Post-COVID-19 Research Clinic (IPCO) was the first long COVID research clinic established in Montreal. It represents a truly unique infrastructure where all patients are both clinically assessed and enrolled in a research protocol aimed at understanding the long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection. More specifically, the IPCO Research Clinic’s objectives are to:
- Understand and better manage the clinical manifestations of long COVID;
- Identify the causes of long COVID;
- Discover diagnostic biomarkers and new treatments for long COVID.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to Dr. Liana Falcone, the NPS will actively contribute to the assessment, clinical follow-up, and care coordination of clients at the IRCM Post-COVID Research Clinic (IPCO). Working closely with the interdisciplinary team and external partners, the nurse practitioner will play a central role in the clinical orientation of patients, optimizing their care pathways, and evaluating them for participation in research projects, including interventional studies.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform advanced clinical assessments, formulate diagnostic hypotheses, and recommend care plans.
- Prescribe necessary diagnostic tests for assessment or follow-up.
- Provide autonomous clinical follow-up for already diagnosed patients, in partnership with the attending physician.
- Contribute to the continuity and transition of care by referring individuals to appropriate community resources.
- Promote self-care and health education to patients and their families.
- Collaborate in setting treatment priorities with specialists and the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in the evaluation, improvement, and implementation of clinical tools (standing orders, practice standards).
- Document interventions in medical records in accordance with applicable standards.
- Contribute to the development of advanced nursing practice, act as a consultant, and serve as a resource person for colleagues.
- Participate in the evaluation and continuous improvement of care provided to post-infectious / post-COVID-19 patients.
Required Qualifications
- Be a registered member with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ).
- Hold a Master’s degree leading to a recognized NPSAC or NPSPC specialist certificate in Quebec.
- Possess either:
- A NPSAC or NPSPC specialist certificate, or
- A valid license as a NPSAC/NPSPC candidate, with a commitment to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner (in adult health or primary care).
Knowledge and skills
- Excellent clinical judgment, analytical skills, and decision-making autonomy.

- Rigor, integrity, discretion, adaptability, and ability to manage priorities.
- Effective communication, empathetic listening, and proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in common computer tools and electronic medical records (Medesync is an asset).
- Knowledge of professional, ethical, and legal standards governing Nurse Practitioner practice.
