Job description
The IRCM is seeking an organized, creative and dynamic individual for a contractual position (with the possibility of renewal) as Project Coordinator in connection with the deployment of a large-scale initiative focused on science outreach. Reporting to the directors of the Academic affairs and Communications departments, the selected candidate will play a key role in managing large-scale scientific events (intramural and extramural) and promoting the success of IRCM researchers and students. He or she will be called upon to support the various initiatives of the Communications and Academic affairs departments.
Responsibilities
Coordination of scientific events
- Develop and coordinate scientific activities and events at the IRCM and in academic institutions throughout the province, under a single banner
- Develop pedagogical and promotional material, ensure their distribution and support participating institutions
- Coordinate communications with various stakeholders
- Organize training workshops related to activity and event themes
- Develop and implement promotional strategies for workshops, activities and events
- Ensure budget follow-up and contribute to the solicitation of financial support
Scientific communication
- Ensure the development of content to highlight successes and achievements of the IRCM scientific community and ensure its outreach on various public and media platforms (website and social networks)
Required qualifications
Academic background
- Undergraduate or graduate degree, preferably in a field related to life sciences
Experience and skills
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in organizing large-scale scientific events and/or project management. Other relevant experience may be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of the academic and life sciences research environment (strong asset)
- Excellent written and verbal skills in French and English
- Strong writing skills
- Strong pedagogical and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work independently
- Excellent sense of priority and respect for deadlines
- Strong computer skills (Adobe and Microsoft Office software; Windows, Mac and mobile platforms) and social media skills (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram)
Employment conditions
Part-time position (between 21 and 28 hours/week, to be discussed) for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
