Research Associate

The Neural Circuit Development Research Unit headed by Dr. Artur Kania is seeking candidates to fill in the position of Research Associate

Summary of responsibilities

  • Formulate scientific hypotheses, conceive, develop, and perform the experiments to verify these hypotheses
  • Collaborate on the writing of grant applications for the research unit’s projects
  • Write scientific manuscripts reporting the results of the research
  • Develop new scientific projects in collaboration with the Research Unit Director

Requirements qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in neuroscience or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in scientific performance, as judged by the quality of previous publications 
  • Have substantial experience and expertise in some of the following fields: developmental biology, molecular neurobiology, neuroscience, genetics, neurophysiology
  • Have thorough technical knowledge in: immunohistochemistry, RNAscope technology, neuronal tracing, stereotactic surgery, mouse behaviour analysis, neuroanatomy
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residence

Working conditions 

  • Temporary full time position (2 years). 
  • Contribution to the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan (RREGOP)

  • 20 days of vacation after one year of service
