Research Associate

Summary of responsibilities: 
The selected person will have the responsibility to conduct experiments towards specific research projects using specific methods and project-specific reagents independently, but with guidance from the Director of the IRCM Molecular Oncology Research Unit. The selected person will have the responsibility to work according to the best practices and guidelines set forth by the IRCM for laboratory work, including reporting, writing abstracts for meeting, preparing posters for conferences, regular presentation of results, writing publication drafts and potentially required revisions, preparing the required protocol for the use of human blood, and the required biosafety protocols. 

Main tasks: 
The selected person will work under the supervision of the director of the "Molecular Oncology" research unit of the IRCM, on a specific project studying the role and the regulation of a novel macrophage immune checkpoint (SIRPa-CD47). The selected person must have experience with macrophage biology and anti-tumor immunity, and must have expertise in immunology, mouse models, molecular biology, cell signaling and oncology. The selected person must have expertise in operate equipment such as centrifuges, PCR machines, multiplex readers, high speed flow cytometers, microscopes and mass spectrometer, and be versed in computer software for data analysis typical for a molecular biology laboratory.

Required qualifications:
•    Ph.D. level degree or equivalent in biomedical research with a specialization in macrophage biology and anti-tumor immunity.  
•    Have an excellent publication record.
•    Expertise in immunology, molecular biology, physiology of macrophages and anti-tumoral Immunity is a must.
Terms and conditions of employment :
•    2 years temporary contract
