About the IRCM

Founded in 1967, the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is a public, non-profit organization dedicated to fundamental and clinical biomedical research across a wide range of fields, while also training the next generation of scientists in an innovative, technology-rich environment.

CONTEXT
The Research Network on Citizen Knowledge and Cocreation Approaches is a new emerging network funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture (FRQ-SC). Its goal is to establish a major collaborative hub in Quebec that advances cooperation between scientists and citizens in the cocreation of transformative knowledge. The network is hosted by the Research Unit on Pragmatic Health Ethics.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Network’s leadership and Director (Eric Racine), the Research Coordinator will carry out research, analytical, organizational, planning, and advisory activities related to the overall functioning of the Network, including:

  • Manage communications (website, newsletters);
  • Plan and organize meetings and events (e.g., conferences, scientific days) in accordance with the Network’s strategic plan;
  • Facilitate networking among Network members and with external partners;
  • Develop new community and citizen partnerships;
  • Organize and manage the Network’s scholarship and grant competitions;
  • Facilitate networking among key researchers and foster research activities across different groups;
  • Maintain trust-based relationships with partners by understanding their needs and motivations and creating conditions for constructive collaboration;
  • Participate in colloquia, conferences, and support the leadership in organizing such activities;
  • Coordinate research activities among the various Network teams;
  • Represent the Network at scientific outreach events (e.g., symposia, workshops);
  • Contribute to the preparation of grant applications;
  • Manage the budget and ensure fund transfers to partners and scholarship recipients;
  • Organize and coordinate scientific engagement activities;
  • Handle administrative and financial follow-up with members, internal administrative units, and funding partners;
  • Write and edit (synthesize/popularize) scientific content for various target audiences (general/scientific, French/English);
  • Organize research initiatives, including the Network’s citizen knowledge projects;
  • Ensure a smooth transition and collaboration with the current coordinator during and following her maternity leave.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in research, project coordination, and/or scientific outreach;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English;
  • Knowledge and experience in co-creative and participatory research.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills, energy, resourcefulness, and autonomy;
  • Excellent priority management and initiative;
  • Proficiency with various software tools and technologies, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Motivation and interest in the Network’s mission and activities;
  • Scientific literacy to support a research network;
  • Excellent ability to write scientific documents in both French and English, ideally including journal articles or funding applications.


EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Approximately twelve (12)-month position to replace a maternity leave;
  • Full-time, regular position (35 hours/week);
  • Pension plan under the Government and Public Employees Retirement Plan (RREGOP);
  • 10 days of sick or personal leave per reference year;
  • 20 vacation days after one year of service;
