
Our students and postdocs stand out in federal and provincial scholarship competitions
Congratulations to the IRCM's master's and doctoral students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, who stood out in the latest scholarship competitions held by the federal and provincial research funding agencies, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) - secteur santé.
A total of $952,000 will thus be awarded to 14 members of the next generation of scientists in training at IRCM, resulting from a rigorous and highly competitive selection process, based on the quality of their academic records and the excellence of their research work.
3 CIHR award recipients:
- Heather Girouard, of Dr. Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret’s laboratory, received a master's scholarship for her project entitled Clinical course of adults living with cystic fibrosis in terms of glucose tolerance in the era of modulator therapies.
- Nikoletta Diamantopoulos, of Dr. Woong-Kyung Suh ’s laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for her project entitled The role of a novel subset of T cells in the germinal center response and antibody production.
- Dr. Noémie Vilallongue, of Dr. Michel Cayouette’s laboratory, received a postdoctoral fellowship for her project entitled Direct reprogramming of Müller glia for retinal regeneration.
11 FRQ scholarship recipients:
- Natalia Sofia Uzcategui Galue, of Dr. Éric Lécuyer's laboratory, was awarded a master's scholarship for her project entitled Caractérisation du rôle des protéines de liaison à l'ARN dans la dystrophie myotonique de type I.
- Heather Girouard, of Dr. Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret’s laboratory, received a master's scholarship for her project entitled Clinical evolution of adults with cystic fibrosis according to their glucose tolerance in the era of highly effective modulating therapies.
- Nikoletta Diamantopoulos, of Dr. Woong-Kyung Suh’s laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for her project entitled The role of a novel T cell subpopulation in germinal center response and antibody production.
- Justin Naniong, of Dr. Frédéric Charron’s laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for his project entitled Mécanisme moléculaire de la signalisation Sonic hedgehog dans le guidage des cônes de croissance axonaux.
- Arthur Filleul, of Dr. Eric Racine's laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for his project entitled Répondre aux enjeux éthiques vécus par le personnel de gestion et d'administration en réadaptation.
- Kaiyue Zhang, of Dr. Frédéric Charron’s laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for her project entitled L'interaction entre DCC et le complexe régulateur WAVE est essentielle pour le guidage axonal médié par Netrin-1/DCC et la latéralisation du contrôle moteur.
- Pedro França, of Dr. Michel Cayouette’s laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for his project entitled Étude des réseaux génétiques impliqués dans la production temporelle des cellules amacrines de la rétine.
- Fatima Kassem, of Dr. Michel Cayouette's laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for her project entitled Reprogramming photoreceptors to prevent blindness.
- Kavindu Puwakdandawa, of Dr. François Robert's laboratory, received a PhD scholarship for her project entitled Disséquer le rôle d'une hélice alpha amphipathique à l'intérieur de l'IDR de Med19 dans la fonction de Cdk8.
- Dr. Sophie Mockly, of Dr. Martin Sauvageau’s laboratory, received a postdoctoral fellowship for her project entitled Décryptage de la fonction et des interactions moléculaires du long ARN non-codant CRNDE dans le cancer colorectal.
- Dr. Matthieu Schoumacher, of Dr. Jennifer Estall's laboratory, was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship for his project entitled Using lipid nanoparticles to optimize beta-cell drug delivery for novel therapeutic approaches in diabetes.
