Fraudulent use of the IRCM name and its scientists: a warning to the public

The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) wishes to warn the public against the proliferation of fraudulent content and false information that usurp the IRCM's name, its researchers and its scientific expertise.

Like many research and healthcare institutions, the IRCM is the target of ill-intentioned individuals seeking to mislead the public. Some content circulating online claims to relay opinions or studies attributed to our institute. These publications are misleading, not validated, and aim to mislead the public into believing in a non-existent scientific endorsement, often with the aim of selling a product or extracting money.

The IRCM wishes to reiterate the following points:

  • All official IRCM communications are published exclusively on its website (www.ircm.qc.ca) and its certified social network accounts.
  • The IRCM and its members, in the exercise of their functions, never solicit donations or associate themselves with the sale of commercial products. Only the IRCM Foundation and its employees are authorized to carry out clearly defined and identified collections, which are never linked to the sale of a product or service.
  • Any unauthorized use of the name of the IRCM or its researchers will be prosecuted.

We invite all citizens to be vigilant, to verify the source of the information they consult, and to report any suspicious content to the following address: protection-info@ircm.qc.ca

The IRCM remains firmly committed to defending scientific and medical integrity, and preserving the public's trust in research.
