One year from now, the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) will celebrate its 60th anniversary, a major milestone for an institution that has made lasting contributions to the advancement of biomedical research and healthcare in Québec and far beyond.
Founded in 1967 with a bold and forward-looking vision, the IRCM set out from the very beginning with a clear mission: to advance fundamental knowledge in health for the benefit of patients. By embracing a unique model that brings together basic research, clinical research and the training of the next generation of scientists, the Institute quickly established itself as an internationally recognized centre of excellence.
Over the decades, IRCM researchers have made major contributions in key fields such as metabolic diseases, cancer, immunology, cardiovascular diseases and neurobiology. Their work has helped uncover the mechanisms underlying numerous diseases and paved the way for new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
“For nearly 60 years, the IRCM has embraced the bold conviction that knowledge is the starting point of the greatest advances in health. As this anniversary approaches, we look back with pride at how far we have come, but even more so, we look ahead with enthusiasm, driven by the excellence of our teams and a new generation of scientists who will shape the medicine of tomorrow.” - Dr. Jean-François Côté, President and Scientific Director of the IRCM
As it approaches its 60th anniversary, the IRCM continues to look toward the future, propelled by the creativity of its scientific community, its strong commitment to training the next generation, and its constant drive to translate discovery into meaningful benefits for human health.
Stay tuned for our special 60th anniversary programming!
