This summer, as part of the IRCM scholarship competition for young researchers, the Institute will welcome six undergraduate students wishing to embark in the field of biomedical research. This 12 to 16-week internship represents a rare opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a multidisciplinary, enriching and conducive to learning research environment.
Based on excellence, the IRCM scholarships for young researchers are part of the Institute's mission to support and promote the emergence of future scientists.
The six recipients of the 2021 edition will each obtain a $ 2,000 financial support to do a summer internship at the Institute:
- Émile L'Heureux-Hubert, under the supervision of François Robert
- Emmanuelle Del Guidice, under the supervision of de David Hipfner
- Mathilde Cassou, under the supervision of Eric Racine
- Maya DeCruz, under the supervision of Mohan Malleshaiah
- Noémie Bélanger, under the supervision of Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret
- Shreya Mahasenan, under the supervision of Artur Kania
In addition, two of them, having distinguished themselves by the excellence of their academic record, received complementary grants from other institutions. Émile L'Heureux-Hubert thus received the Excellence in Medicine Program for Initiation into Research (PREMIER) scholarship from the Faculty of Medicine of Université de Montréal. This additional $ 5,000 support aims to awaken students' interest in research by allowing them to do a summer internship in a research laboratory. On her part, Emmanuelle Del Guidice received an Undergraduate Student Research Award from NSERC. This grant, representing $ 6,000 in additional support, aims to foster the development of students with great potential for a research career in the fields of natural sciences and engineering.
