Titre original: Effect of ambient temperature on insulin absorption and change in blood glucose levels in individuals with type 1 diabetes.
Short description
The IRCM clinic is seeking participants to take part in the T1Temp research project. This study led by Jane Yardley, PhD, aims to examine changes in blood glucose levels and insulin absorption when the whole body is exposed to cold, neutral, or warm temperatures.
Implication
This study involves 4 visits, 1 at the IRCM and 3 at the Centre ÉPIC, which will take place over a maximum of 4 months.
- First visit: During this visit, which will take place at the IRCM, the study procedures will be explained to you. You will then sign the consent form, complete a few questionnaires and carry out some tests and measures. This visit will last approximately 1.5 hours.
- Visits 2, 3, and 4: The intervention visits, which will take place at Centre ÉPIC, will involve sitting for 2 hours in a room at a cool, neutral or warm temperature. Each visit will last approximately 3.5 hours.
Inclusion criteria
- Be an adult aged 18-45
- Have a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes for at least 2 years
- Be able to give written and verbal consent
