Implication
The clinic at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is seeking participants for a research study supervised by Dr. Rémi Rabasa Lhoret (IRCM).
- This interventional study lasts 32 weeks and includes 5 or 6 in person visits.
- The goal of this study is to evaluate whether adding tirzepatide to a commercially available automated insulin delivery system, the Tandem Control IQ, can eliminate the need to enter carbohydrate amounts at mealtime while maintaining adequate glycemic control. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive or not receive tirzepatide injections during the study.
- If you are eligible, you will be assigned to the treatment or control group for a total of 32 weeks.
- Study visits will include blood tests, questionnaires, and questions about your health status.
- You will have the opportunity to update your knowledge of type 1 diabetes management and optimize your treatment.
- Financial compensation will be provided for your participation.
- During the study period, you will be required to use the automated insulin delivery
Inclusion criteria
- Diagnosis of type 1 diabetes for more than one year
- 18 years of age or older
- Willing to use an automated insulin delivery system for the entire duration of the study
- HbA1c greater than 6.5% and less than 12%
- BMI greater than 27 kg/m²
