Professor
Departments of Neuroscience,
Neurology, and Ophthalmology
Principal Investigator
Institute for Cell Engineering
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Baltimore, MD, USA
This conference is hosted by Michel Cayouette, Director, Cellular Neurobiology Research Unit. This conference is part of the 2025-2026 IRCM conference calendar.
About this conference
Dr. Blackshaw will present recent work focusing on identifying mechanisms controlling neural cell fate specification in the developing vertebrate retina, as well as injury-induced neurogenesis and axonal regeneration in the adult retina.
About Seth Blackshaw
Dr. Seth Blackshaw is a Professor of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with additional appointments in Neurology and Ophthalmology. An expert in developmental and regenerative neurobiology, he combines single-cell multi-omics and cross-species genomic analysis to identify the molecular programs that control neuronal differentiation and regeneration in retina and hypothalamus. He has published over 220 peer-reviewed papers and received numerous awards, including the Alfred P. Sloan and Klingenstein Fellowships, and a W.M. Keck Distinguished Young Investigator Award.
