
The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is proud to announce that Dr. Emilia Liana Falcone was promoted to the position of Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Université de Montréal.
Dr. Emilia Liana Falcone is a leading expert in research on the microbiome, and on the long COVID. She holds the Canada Research Chair (level 2) on the role of the microbiota in innate immune errors and post-infectious syndromes, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine - Department of Medicine and Department of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the Université de Montréal. She is also the Director of the Microbiome and Mucosal Defense Research Unit at the IRCM and Director of the IRCM post-COVID-19 research clinic. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards recognizing excellence in her field of research.
After 8 years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where Dr. Emilia Liana Falcone completed a specialization in infectious diseases, a PhD (University of Cambridge) and a post-doctorate, she was recruited by the IRCM in late 2018 as Research Assistant Professor and as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Université de Montréal. After 5 years of hard work and dedication to her research program, Dr. Falcone was promoted to Associate Research Professor at the IRCM this spring.
