The Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) is proud to announce that its researcher in health ethics, Dr. Eric Racine, will be a visiting researcher at the prestigious Brocher Foundation in Switzerland. He will undertake a research residency from April 1 to 29, 2027.
Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, near Geneva, the Brocher Foundation offers highly competitive residential fellowships that is evaluated by an international scientific committee and designed for researchers working on the ethical, legal, and social implications of contemporary medical advances. This unique setting, both peaceful and interdisciplinary, fosters writing, reflection, and collaboration with experts as well as international organizations.
During his residency, Dr. Racine, who is Director of the Pragmatic Health Ethics Research Unit at the IRCM, will develop a book project entitled: “Human flourishing in a time of ecological crises: A living ethics and One Health perspective.”
This project is part of the emerging field of global health called “One Health”, which highlights the interdependence between human, animal, and environmental health. It aims to rethink the concept of human flourishing, which too often remains rooted in models that are ill-suited to modern ecological challenges.
Through this invitation, the IRCM highlights the international outreach of Dr. Racine’s work and reaffirms its commitment to advancing essential ethical reflection in response to the major health challenges of our time.
