About this conference: 
Given the intrinsic stochasticity of biochemical reactions, the mechanisms leading to conservation of biological functions from noise are obscure and under debate. Pervasive transcription of non-conserved genomic regions generates lowly expressed cancer-specific long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) capable of modulating the activity of multiple abundant proteins and leading to cancer phenotypes. Using examples from our recent unpublished work, I will discuss how the aberrant expression of these seemingly dispensable molecules can be used by cancer cells to subvert cellular physiology and evade immune responses.

About Eleonora Leucci :
Dr. Eleonora Leucci is an Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator at KU Leuven, in Belgium, where she is Head of the TRACE PDX (patient-derived tumor xenograft) platform. Her work on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) in the context of cancer has been published in some of the most prestigious journals, such as Nature, Cancer Cell, Blood, etc.
